Mermaid
Created during Connie Solera's Painting the Feminine workshop in 2014 this piece was part of a morning painting practice embracing spontaneous play and joyful expression. Drawing upon some of my favorite color combinations - pink, green, yellow and magenta - and my favorite expressive gestures and forms - the curve, swirl, wave and shell - what emerged was a nascent mermaid suspended in a moment of being/becoming. Heart open, head tilted back in a gesture of receiving and welcoming.
